“Akzhaiyk” is one of Kazakhstan’s specially protected natural areas where eco-tourism and environmental education are actively promoted. To support sustainable tourism, 4 official eco-routes have been developed and approved.

“Nature World”

• Season: April – June | Group size: up to 30 people
“Water World”
• Vehicle + boat route
• Distance: 64 km | Duration: 7h 10min
• Season: August – October | Group size: up to 4 people
“Steppe World”
• Mixed (vehicle, walking, biking)
• Distance: 34 km | Duration: 4h 10min
• Season: July – October | Group size: up to 15 people
“Bird Paradise”
• Vehicle + boat route
• Distance: 57 km | Duration: 5h 15min
• Season: May – October | Group size: up to 10 people
RICH BIODIVERSITY:
- 292 species of birds (36 listed in the Red Book)
- 48 species of mammals (incl. European mink and Russian desman)
- 32 fish species (4 endangered)
- 227 plant species (2 protected species)
SHALYGA ISLAND – BIRD NESTING SITE
Located 45 km from Atyrau, Shalyga Island hosts over 14,000 black-headed gulls (a Red Book species). With untouched nature and stunning coastal views, it’s ideal for birdwatching, photography, and peaceful relaxation.
