Kashagan oil field

The Kashagan oil field is one of the world’s largest oil and gas fields located in the Kazakhstani part of the Caspian Sea. This field, located 80 km from the city of Atyrau, is named after the famous Kazakh poet. Kashagan Kurzhymanuly.

Kashagan’s oil reserves are estimated at 9–13 billion barrels, and the field also has huge reserves of natural gas. Production is carried out through artificial islands, and oil is processed at the Bolashak plant near Atyrau. This plant can produce 300,000 barrels of oil per day.

The field is being developed by the North Caspian Operating Company (NCOC) consortium, which includes leading international oil companies. Kashagan is a unique place that demonstrates the oil and gas potential of the Caspian region.
