“Oil Derrick” – a decorative structure
On the eve of the celebration of the 376th anniversary of the city of Atyrau, a symbol of the oil industry – an oil derrick – was installed. This is a real pumping unit of the SK-5 series, decommissioned from production. The height of the unit is 4 meters, and the lifting capacity is 5 tons. The oil derrick operates 24 hours a day and is illuminated at night. It is installed on a green islet at the base of the central bridge on the European side.
More than 200 juniper bushes have been planted along the perimeter of the small island around the structure, and a drip irrigation system is provided for them.
