Karshyga Akhmediyarov (25.03.1946 – 07.06.2010) – an outstanding Kazakh composer, conductor, concertmaster, musician, soloist, kyui player, dombra virtuoso, teacher, and professor of the Kurmangazy Kazakh National Conservatory. Honorary Worker of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan. People’s Artist of the Republic of Kazakhstan, laureate of the State Prize of the Kazakh SSR. In 1965-1972, he studied at the Kurmangazy State Conservatory. At the same time, he performed in the Kurmangazy Orchestra of Folk Instruments.
Since 1974, he taught at the Almaty Conservatory. In 1986, he did an internship at the Moscow Conservatory in conducting. Since 1988, he worked in the Kurmangazy Orchestra of Folk Instruments as a conductor, soloist, and concertmaster of the dombra group. Since 1993, he was a professor at the Kurmangazy KNC, and since 1996, he was the head of the “Dombra” department.
K.Akhmediyarov is a teacher who made a huge contribution to the education of the young generation of Kazakh musicians and the formation of national identity. He is the author of several books and methodological guides for higher educational institutions.
The total height of the sculpture is 3.5 meters. The monument to the kyui player, with a dombra in his hands, sitting on a pedestal, is the work of sculptor Yedige Rakhmadiev.
