The monument to the poet Fariza Ongarsynova, who showed her dedication to Kazakh poetry by saying, “For being the companion of my lonely days, my bitter nights, for being my faith, I cherish you,” has become a decoration of the city. Fariza Ongarsynova is a poet, People’s Writer of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and laureate of the State Prize of the Kazakh SSR named after Abai.
The poet has repeatedly headed the jury in the “literature” nomination of the “Shabyt” international festival. Fariza Ongarsynova’s talent was duly recognized by the state, and she was awarded the honorary title “People’s Writer of the Republic of Kazakhstan.” She was awarded the State Prize of the Republic of Kazakhstan. She was awarded the Order of the Badge of Honor. In 2009, for her outstanding services to the state and society, President N.A. Nazarbayev presented F. Ongarsynova with the Order of Dostyk. The head of state, congratulating F. Ongarsynova on her 70th birthday in December 2009, noted that she made a huge contribution to the development of the country as a poet, journalist, and deputy of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The monument is made of bronze, the height of its pedestal is 4 meters 50 centimeters, and the height of the poet’s statue is 4 meters 10 centimeters. The pedestal has eight faces. On one of them, the poet’s name is written, and on the remaining seven faces, one stanza from the poet’s poems is quoted. The author of the sculpture is the sculptor Murat Mansurov. According to the architect Serik Rustambekov, the sculpture depicts the moment when the poet is inspired and strives to write new poems.
The poet’s monument is located on Kanysh Satpayev Avenue, a prominent figure of Kazakh science, in the city of Atyrau. The opening ceremony of the monument was attended by the Akim of the Atyrau region Baktykozha Izmukhambetov, representatives of the region’s intelligentsia, relatives of the poet, and youth.
