The Akkeregeshin Plateau is located at the junction of Atyrau and Aktobe regions, approximately 300 kilometers from the city of Atyrau. It is one of Kazakhstan’s unique natural areas. Its chalk cliffs and strangely shaped rock formations amaze every traveler.
The most famous landmark of Akkeregeshin is a rock formation known as the “Three Brothers.” These natural sculptures often appear in travelers’ photos. Some of the rocks, “sculpted” by nature itself, change their appearance over time, revealing themselves from a new perspective with each visit.
How to get to Akkeregeshin?
You can reach this plateau through special off-road expeditions or 2–3 day tours organized by travel agencies. It is recommended to drive along the Atyrau — Beyneu highway, making a stop in the town of Kulsary to stock up on necessary supplies. After driving about 54 kilometers from Kulsary, you will be able to reach Akkeregeshin. Along the way, you can also visit other natural sites such as Aktolagay, making your journey even more eventful.
Accommodation and rest
There are hotels in Kulsary. If you prefer to be closer to nature, camping with a tent is also an option.
