Akkegershin Chalk Plateau: a priceless gift of nature

The Akkegershin plateau, located at the junction of the Atyrau and Aktobe regions, approximately 245 kilometers from the city of Atyrau, is one of the unique natural areas of Kazakhstan. Its chalk cliffs and various shaped rock remnants impress any traveler.

The most famous landmark in Akkegershin is a rock remnant called “Three Brothers.” These natural sculptures are often found in travelers’ photos. Some of the rocks “sculpted” by nature itself acquire new shapes over time, opening up from a new angle with each visit.

How to get to Akkegershin?

This plateau can be reached by special auto-expeditions or 2-3 day tours organized by tourist agencies. It is recommended to travel along the Atyrau-Aktau highway and make a stop in the city of Kulsary to replenish the necessary supplies. From Kulsary, you can travel about 100 kilometers and you will reach Akkegershin. Along the way, you can also visit other natural sites, such as Aktolagay, and diversify your trip.

Accommodation and recreation

There are hotels in Kulsary, and if you want to feel closer to nature, there is also the possibility to relax by setting up a tent.

Akkegershin is a special place for those who want to be in close contact with nature. Plan your trip and hurry to discover this amazing corner of our country!
